Karl Spaeth
Karl was first introduced to Hatha Yoga at 17, and then to meditation at 21 by Prem Rawat also known as Maharaji.
Karl has had the great fortune to have lived in Encinitas, Ca. for more than 20 years and to be able to take advantage of one of the most in-depth and diverse yoga communities in the country. Karl extends gratitude to all of his excellent teachers, especially as of late, Dra. Ranjani Cobo, Dennis Dean and Noah Maze.
From early age, he felt the athletic pull and continues to avidly surf, snowboard, skateboard, scuba dive and play many team sports, his favorite being soccer. Martial arts such as Aikido and Thai boxing, as well as the more internal or Healing Arts, like Tai Chi and Chi Gung are also disciplines that he enjoys. Karl is also an accomplished carpenter, a private pilot, and a business owner.
When he’s in Nosara, you can find him teaching yoga, surfing and building his second home and a yoga shala. When he teaches in the states, he likes to lead small yoga workshops, such as therapeutic partner practice and yoga wall systems.
Grateful for all experience, Karl states, “my feelings are that the intention of practicing yoga, in it’s many forms, is to remember, to re-discover, and to return to who we really are.”
